Where do you live?
I currently live in Phoenix, Arizona.

Tell us about your education background.
I have a Bachelor degree in Materials Science and Engineering, a Master degree in Industrial Engineering, and a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University.

Tell us about your professional background.
I have spent my career in teaching and research of various topics in quality and reliability engineering. I taught at the University of Texas at El Paso from 2002 to 2006, and have been teaching at Arizona State University since 2006. I am an associate professor of Industrial Engineering with tenure at ASU and I am also the program chair of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at ASU.

How have you given back to the reliability profession?
I am helping ASQ Reliability Division on organizing conference, reviewing reliability papers, and selecting best paper. I am serving on the editorial boards of two ASQ publications, Journal of Quality Technology and Quality Engineering. I am the guest editor of the 2017 reliability engineering special issue of Quality Engineering. I am also a member of IEEE and Society of Reliability Engineers. I am a founding member of the IEEE Reliability Society Arizona Chapter. In addition, I have published many papers on reliability and presented and provided training at local and national reliability and quality events.

What do you enjoy most about reliability?
I enjoy teaching my students the concepts and techniques of reliability engineering, helping them to pass the CRE exam. I have provided consulting services to several organizations on reliability testing and system reliability analysis.

What do you do for fun and relaxation?
I love reading and traveling, and spending time and having funs with my kids.

What is reliability in your own words?
Reliability reduces performance uncertainty along time.  I take the same principle to my personal activities. Being a reliable person helps me make friends, gain trusts from others, and manage my classes, students, and the department more effectively.
