A reasonable model (RBD) of any system provides insights to support a design team to prioritize and achieve a desired reliability performance. This webinar will cover the model of a system (including electrical, mechanical and protection components) that considers the MTBF (mean time between failures) and MTTR (mean time to repair) of the individual components. Through the RBD, the availability of the system will be statistically determine. The reliability analysis will also consider the contribution of common cause failures to the overall system unavailability and will consider a variety of operational scenarios as well as different levels of manual intervention success rates. The model allows to understand major contributors to downtime and will guide design decisions and trade off to an improved design. Take away: Understand the use of RBD as a tool to improve system design Understand contribution of common cause failures, manual intervention success rate and operational requirements on system unavailability
