In this talk, I will introduce an R package, ALTopt, which is newly developed for creating and evaluating optimal experimental designs of accelerated life tests (ALTs) with right censoring or interval censoring plan. This package utilizes the generalized linear model approach to ALT planning because it enables an easy handling of censoring plan and the derivation of information matrix for evaluating designs. Three different types of optimality conditions are considered: D-optimality for the parameter estimation, U-optimality for the reliability prediction at a single use condition and I-optimality for the reliability prediction over the use region. Weibull distribution is assumed for the failure time data and any number of stress variables can be used with the pre-specified linear predictor model. Several graphical evaluation tools are also provided for the comparison of different ALT test plans.
